VE Day: 80 years later, Europe takes a look in the mirror… and keeps talking

Today marks the 80th anniversary of Victory in Europe Day, when a devastated but defiant continent celebrated the defeat of Nazi Germany. London danced, Churchill smiled (cigar in hand), and peace rang louder than bombs.

The UK, limited in means but rich in resolve, didn’t back down in 1940 — and isn’t doing so now either, even with Russian threats reshuffling the chessboard of Europe. Meanwhile, on the continent, the 2025 EU — peaceful, well-dressed, and mostly led by women — is still meeting, discussing, coordinating… or at least trying.

No one wants war again — thank God — but on this historic day, it’s fair to ask:
If history came knocking once more… would we be ready — or stuck in meeting?
