Cannes, 24/05/2025
There’s always drama in Cannes. This time it wasn’t a red carpet scandal, a striking filmmaker, or a protest with banners. No. It was the darkness itself that took the spotlight.
For hours now, the entire coastal area — including Antibes — has been experiencing a blackout. Luxury hotels, boutiques, and restaurants all out of service. The only bright spot? The Palais du Festival, running on an independent generator. Because when it’s time to hand out a Palme, the show must go on… even if pedaled into motion.
Outside the Palais, screenings have been interrupted, while tourists wander like Truffaut characters in zombie-chic. But fear not: the Palme d’Or is safe and will be awarded with full electric pomp.
