“$LIBRA or not $LIBRA: that is the question”

Argentina
The Argentine Congress, that stage where farce never goes out of fashion, has just premiered its latest tragicomedy: the $LIBRA commission. After months of soap-opera worthy bickering, the opposition has dusted it off and brought it back to life, promising crypto-dramas, star witnesses, and the occasional strategic disappearance in the hallways.

Center stage is Maximiliano Ferraro, a “Lilito” unanimously chosen as president. Yes, unanimous — that rare bird that only appears when everyone wants to avoid the label of “K-maneuver” or, worse, “Milei-maneuver.” Deadline: November 10, conveniently timed with the electoral calendar — because in Argentina even commissions know how to work the timing.

The libertarians, true to form, cried “abuse” and walked out. After all, nothing says “republic” like slamming the door and leaving empty chairs. Meanwhile, the opposition sharpens the rulebook: penalties for witnesses who don’t show up are on the table, with high-profile names in the crosshairs — including Karina Milei — as if the commission had been inspired by courtroom reality TV.

Peronists, for their part, swear there are no egos here. A statement that alone belongs to magical realism. And Sabrina Selva added her poetic touch: the real question is not Peronists versus anti-Peronists, but those who want an investigation versus those who don’t. Translation: those who want a spectacle versus those who prefer to switch off the stage lights.

From now until November 10, the $LIBRA commission promises what every good Argentine performance knows how to deliver: cross-accusations, high drama, and a few unexpected plot twists.
