U.S. President Donald Trump shocked the world with a 180-degree turn on the war in Ukraine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Barely a month ago he welcomed Vladimir Putin to Alaska with honors; now, from his favorite platform \u2014Truth Social\u2014 he urges Volodymyr Zelensky to \u201ctake back all of Ukraine\u2026 and maybe even go further\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

His message came after his UN General Assembly speech. Trump dismissed Russia as a \u201cpaper tiger\u201d, crippled by a collapsing economy and an army \u201cfighting without direction\u201d. He praised the Ukrainian army and mocked Putin\u2019s failed invasion that was supposed to last three days but has dragged on for over three and a half years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Zelensky: between surprise and hope<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The Ukrainian president admitted being surprised but called Trump\u2019s words \u201ca great change\u201d. Speaking to Fox News, he said Washington is now \u201ccloser to guaranteeing Ukraine\u2019s security\u201d and ending the war.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Trump, who months ago told Zelensky \u201cyou don\u2019t have the cards to win\u201d, now encourages him with a martial tone. He even suggested NATO should shoot down Russian planes<\/strong> violating allied airspace.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Europe and NATO: rising tensions<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

UK Foreign Secretary Yvette Cooper was blunt at the UN: \u201cUkraine\u2019s security is our security\u201d<\/em>. NATO also reaffirmed its ironclad commitment to Article 5.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Polish Foreign Minister Rados\u0142aw Sikorski warned Moscow: \u201cIf another missile or plane enters our airspace and is shot down, don\u2019t complain. You\u2019ve been warned\u201d<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Trump and the energy front<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Trump also blasted Europe\u2019s reliance on Russian oil, calling it \u201cshameful\u201d and hinting he will pressure Hungarian PM Viktor Orb\u00e1n to halt purchases.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
